About the Position: We are seeking a skilled Project Automation Leader to join our team. You will work closely with the Owner’s Team and external contractors during the FEED phase of a large-scale project (counting ~90,000 I/O’s), ensuring technical accuracy and project goal adherence. Key responsibilities include driving and coordinating activities within the automation discipline throughout the project period. When in operation, implementing and optimizing automated solutions to increase the efficiency and quality of our production processes. Position will report to Vice President Automation, IT and Digitalisation in at Owner.
Main responsibilities:
- Be an integrated part of the Owner’s Team, working closely with the EPCM contractor to establish best practices and standardization within the automation discipline throughout the project period.
- Ensure safety, corporate, and quality standards are met in all automation processes.
- Build up and lead an automation team to build and operate automation systems in the factory
- Contribute to the development and follow-up of the owner’s automation strategies, corporate standards and action plans.
- Assess proposed specifications, automation designs, equipment selections, and installation plans.
- Support the bidding and selection process for the execution phase.
- Address any discrepancies or deviations from project specifications.
- Propose useful document additions and improvements.
- Build up and lead the internal automation discipline team.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum a bachelor's degree in automation, electrical, cybernetics, or equivalent. A higher degree is an advantage.
- 10+ years of industry experience, especially in large-scale projects.
- Good technical competence in automation, including knowledge of DCS systems, robotics, and industrial AI.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team of automation specialists at Vianode's plants and with our external partners.
- Solid experience with planning and implementing automation projects.
- Experience with design and development of automation systems for batch and continuous processes.
- International and multi-cultural experience (a strong asset)
- Knowledge of Canadian codes, standards, and regulations
- Team management experience
- English fluency required
- Availibility to travel.
Location: Intially Remote (home office). Will required to be on-site at the execution phase.
